Single non-emergency number for Kent Police
To make it easier for the public to contact Kent Police, the force will be adopting a single non-emergency number: 01622 690690.
The aim of using a single non-emergency number is to:
- make it easier for the public to know how to contact us with non-urgent enquires
- reduce confusion about which number to use
- bring the force in-line with Home Office requirements and other agencies/forces who successfully use a single contact number
- reduce the burden of unnecessary 999 calls by comprehensively marketing the single number across the county

KENT FIRE & RESCUE
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) have thanked everyone who took part in their consultation at the end of last year, and have especially praised those involved in local neighbourhood watch schemes for their active input and involvement.
In total 1800 members of the public and local businesses took part in the consultation, providing valuable feedback to KFRS on the changing risks in the area affecting the fire and rescue service. These include more elderly and vulnerable people living alone, an increase in numbers living in overcrowded homes and shared rented housing, more extreme weather events, more traffic on the roads and new building materials and methods changing how fires spread. Respondents to the survey said they were concerned about the impact of new housing developments and increasing population. The public wanted KFRS to work with developers to ensure that ways to decrease fire and flood risks are considered when plans are drawn up. In all 89.2% of the public felt KFRS was doing a good job. KFRS fed the public feedback into their Risk Management Plan that was agreed by their Authority last month.
The prize draw of £100 went to Betty Chambers, a neighbourhood watch representative for Woodbrook, Charing.
